another hovabator question..
I am calibrating my HBator tonight.. so why does it smell like melting plastic? Is this normal? I never noticed it last year, but who knows; it could have been due to my allergies.. the foam atop of it feels pretty warm.. I just don't want to burn the house down.. does anyone else notice this?
Re: another hovabator question..
I think it has something to do with the styrafoam getting hot and that puts off a little smell, dont take my word on it though. Mine did that last year.
Re: another hovabator question..
Yeah, it is nothing overpowering, but I am keeping an eye on it..
Re: another hovabator question..
I would watch it, back when i used them i never had any smell coming from them... Could be dust???
Re: another hovabator question..

TO ALL BREEDERS USING HOVA!. If you have a closet just get a sheet of plexiglass, a 13 gallon rubber maid trash can fill it with 8 gallons of even out moist vermiculite and heat the trash can using flexwatt. Use a thermometer with probe And keep it thermostated at 88-90 depending how warm it is in your closet. I use a seperate indoor/ outdoor thermometer to see what the surrounding temps are
Re: another hovabator question..
Yep, 3' of 11" flexwatt weaved around 2 12"x12" foam frames. It works like a dream and looks nice. Sorry to be a show off :D
