I have just purchased a baby captive hatched dumeril monitor! I will have him on Tuesday, and will be working on a custom enclosure for him this weekend :)
Does anyone have any ideas regarding enclosures? All of my snakes are in 4.5x2x2ft enclosures - the burmese, ball python and rtb. I would like to build his enclosure to be about 5 feet long at least - but it is not necessary. Does anyone have any good pictures that can serve as ideas? I will probably do the same thing as my snake cages regarding the above heat - and may use UTH also. All of my vivariums are lined with vinyl, with thermometers measuring the temperature gradient (CHE/UTH thermostatically controlled) with built in misting system. They also have some cat trays for water and soaking.
I would like to go the same route, but I am unsure of whether to go a foot higher with climbing space - or if I should stay at 2 feet high. I also am trying to make a decision regarding the water access. I was thinking about making a 2"-3"x12"x24" pool at one end of the tank for him to splash around in also. Of course I will need to build in some type of drainage or possibly filtration system - but that is also up in the air.
If anyone has pictures of their enclosures, I would LOVE to see them!
