Female Cycles

Okay... last year I bred my little Cinny male to one of my normal females and got a couple of nice Cinnys. The sire was a little small (700 grams) and I didn't want to stress him out, so I put him with only one female.

The odds weren't in my favorite with 2 out of 9, so I decided to put him together with 3 of my females this year. One girl gave me a clutch of 7 last week, but this week...

The other two are now in POS. I've been breeding them since November, so I'm wondering what are the odds of both of them hitting POS on the same day? Do you think it could be a hormonal/pheromonal phenomenon, or just a coincidence?

i've heard of males influencing eachother to do their thang, but in your case the gals would just be having a coincidence. maybe im wrong, so if one of the veterans can help me out

I have females that seem to shed at the same time but ovulating I don't know. I have heard that it happens in humans. :)

I heard that as well, which was why I thought this may have been more than a coincidence. :confused:

According the Barker's latest book, it has been their observation that females in close proximity can affect each other's breeding cycles.

Thanks Brad... I have that book, but don't remember reading about that. I'll check it out tonight.

Its in that whole slew of info about vitellogenesis (sp?) ... that book is a must have.

Basically, it was something along the lines of "females in certain stages of reproduction can influence females at earlier stages to move along, but just as well, a female at an earlier stage of reproduction can cause a female that is further along to resorb her follicles."

I'll re-read it later on and post specifics if no one else hits it.
