    Malfunctioning heat pad?
Ive notice in the last couple days my heat pad is having trouble staying up to 90 degrees. I have it on a thermostat set to about 92. When I have it on full power it used to get up to 105-110 now only about 90. Has this happened to anyone, or does anyone know what might be going on?

What kind of heat pad is it? If you think it is starting to malfunction, I'd suggest replacing it ASAP. If there is a weak spot in the material it may get hot enough to melt or start a fire.

    Get a new one ASAP!

I had a piece of flexwatt go nuts a few months back that was on a ranco tstat. The tstat was set on 93 and was always 90-92 and well my thermometer was reading way way way to hot. Well up and over 100. Let me tell you I about died! It had melted the duct tape and the plastic on the probe. Also the tub's plastic was very hot and soft. THANK GOD I didn't have a snake in there at that time but had just moved every one in to my rack unit with new flexwatt & a Helix tstat, a day or two before.

It CAN happen. I no longer use that ranco and that piece of flexwatt is LONG gone.

I moved my bed today and moved the thermostat out of its normal place. So im hopping I just disturbed it someway. Im going to run a few tests with and without the t stat, to see wahts really wrong.

Good luck! You may still want to get a "back up" one just in case. Either way I hope you are able to figure out whats going on with it.

Took it off the thermostat and so far its up to 93 and rising fast, so I think i messed with the t stat somehow or its malfunctioning. Either way its easier then messing with the actual pad. thanks guys.
