When Should I start handling my bp?
i got my ball Python last Monday and he is finally settled inn. the temps is his hide is 90-93, cool side is aorund 80-84. He goes in his hide on the warm side twice a day for long peroids of time. Now he out, on the cool side behind his other hide in the corner. He kinda use to my hands going in and changing the water. Today i touched and grashed him as if i was gonna pick up up to see what he does and he didn't even ball up. all he did was tense up his body and after i let go stayed in that tense position for like 5 min. I wanna know what does that men. Keeping in mind i only had Venese (Bp) for almost 1 and half weeks and he didn't eat his first week..

    Thnks for helping Guys

I will start handling after a good consecutive feeding schedule....3 or 4 weeks...but the general rule of thumb is one week after he's settled and 2 days after he's eaten. Sometimes it just takes a little for them to get used to you.

The way I do it is that I usually limit my interaction with any new addition until at least the first successful meal, after that I start handling every other day and when they eat regularly I handle them 5 days a week.

And keep in mind no handling for 48 hours after feeding.

    Hope this help.

Okay, Guys thnks alot. I am definetly gonna wait for a while after he settles inn a little more. he spends alot of his time on the kool side too but wont go in his hide. Maybe i have to use the same technic i used to get him in his hide on the warm side.(put him in there my self)
