Degree Swing **incubator**
Just wondering whats a normal range for temps to swing in an incubator? I'm using an old fridge and I've noticed it'll swing 1-2 degrees
Thanks Larry

In the egg box or the fridge itself cause its the egg box you really need to worry about
Re: Degree Swing **incubator**
helix t-stat with prob in the egg box
Re: Degree Swing **incubator**
No problem Larry, about 1 degree is what I normally have. but Im useing hovabators for lizard eggs and it seems more like 1 1/2-2 degree swing and they hatch fine that way.
Wanted to add that overloads of ball python eggs that go into the hovabators do fine with that 2 degree swing. :)

Thanks a lot Ed I appreciate it
Re: Degree Swing **incubator**
Larry, mine swings about .6 degrees. What kind of Helix are you using? Just wondering, I use a 1500 watt Basic system for my incubator. I never tried a DBS-1000, but I would bet it would swing a little more. I still think that so long as those temps stay between 88 and 91.5, you'll be alright.
Re: Degree Swing **incubator**
i would trust the helix probe. they are rated at .9 tenths of one degree working accuracy. that is plenty for hatching eggs. for me, helix has been tested and used in enough bators to get the job done. also unless your thermometer is better than .9 in accuracy, you can't really check the helix accuracy.
can you post a pic of the bator? just curious.
being a hvac geek, i've tested out 5-6 different thermometers with helix and all have been less than 2 deg. off. most were within one degree. helix does a good job at keeping accurate and stable temps!

that's a good looking setup, looks like it should work no problems.
