    lighting
okay ive given in to tubs and i plan on building a new rack for my babys. im gonna go ahead and order the flexwatt from basicreptiles.com. im gonna make my rack a lil more comfy for them as far as lighting. so are bp's sensitive to different light? im gonna build a rack with white and red L.E.D's made into the rack on a time for daytime and night time lighting. red L.E.D. was gonna be so i can watch them of course, but since its a red L.E.D will they notice it or is red in general not a light to them? as far as the white L.E.D to simulate daytime effect, would that be adequate? im gonna be using a 41qt tub, probably 4 or 5 high. so im guessing 11" flexwatt is best. i have a reptistat 500R thermostat, would that be okay for the flexwatt? thanks for any advice and suggestions in advanced :)

I'm not exactly clear why you feel you need to add lights? Is it more for your pleasure or the snakes? Remember, they spend their time in dark burrows in the wild, where they don't get a lot of light.

I've found that natural light cycles in the room that they they are kept in is more than adequate.

    Did you mean http://www.reptilebasics.com?

Also, Office Max carries Iris tubs. Or you can order them here: http://www.reptiletubs.com/

the lighting was more for the snakes to create daylight time instead of being dark 24/7. red was so i can observe their movement patterns at night.
thanks for the info on tubs will be looking into it more.

Is there a window with even a little bit of daylight coming through in the room they will be kept? As I understand it simulating daylight really isn't necessary.

I agree. As for observing night time movements - I really don't pay that much attention to it in my rack. If I need to see anyone, I just open the tub! :D

hahaha okay okay............. ill stop with all the customizing :P so i just ordered 2 tubs to see what they are like from that reptiletubs.com site. are these pretty good for a 4 1/2 foot bp?

    CB 70: Dimensions: 17 3/4"W x 33 1/2"L x 6"H

i was gonna go for the CB 80 but the 70 seems better due to bp's really rather be in a tight enclosure.

as far as lighting there is very little. im in jail.......... okay not really :P im in government housing on fort bliss and its kinda dim in my office alot. ill just position it near the window i guess.

btw thanks for the pointers and as soon as i finish constructing my rack i will post some pics. :P
