    pics of hovabator expanded: critique?
I took the Hova and its heating element, and added a fish-shipment cooler; wow, they were the same width and I got lucky. I put in a tub; it is very roomy in there, and the tub I used is about a third of the floor-space of a 41-qt tub, and about twice as tall. Pics: the temperature was not yet up to par, since I had just plugged it in, but I put mock substrate into the tub and placed the thermometer probe into it for a better idea..
I used the hova as-was for rat snake eggs last year, and it holds its temperature right-on. I am now testing it to see if it'll work as well with a larger space to heat.

Yay! I used a smaller tub to place under the egg-tub and it brought it closer to the heating element.. it is now at 86.6 degrees. I plan on checking it in a few minutes to make sure it holds steady; gotta love calibrating.
I am going to tape up the gaps in the foam eventually, but that is for later..

Thanks.. I know that I have quite a while before eggs.. my fattest, Ginger, is doing just what she did last year.. see, I was thinking that she was my male, and the male that I bred with her was thought to be our female.. so, we wondered why our male was off feed and "inflating".. turns out, Goblin was a girl! (Ginger.) So now I see the same signs as last year, she is off feed, and starting to get that inflated look..
