    Police cruisers
What do police officers have in their cars that makes them so fast? You can be driving down the road and see a tiny cop car in your rear view mirror and then you look again and it's right on your bumper. My friends uncle is a police officer and he told me that every revolution your car turns a police cruiser turns 10.

well i've encountered a lot of cops on my bike, and i'll tell you one thing. cops tend to pull stories out of their cloaca. my mom's car was once a police cruiser and there is no engine work. i think they just drive fast.

uh huh...so my car redlines at around 7500, and is usually around 2500 when i'm just driving around.

so that means a cop car cruises at 25,000 and redlines at 80,000 :colbert:

i do think they're geared a little differently though.

A police car has a very important component that all other production cars dont, A guy behind the wheel that cant get a ticket...lol. I know alot of cops and the cars they drive are just like yours and mine they just buy the ones with the larger engines usually. They just drive them like they stole them..........no pun intended, wait yea it was intended.:sabduel:

Here is the fleet options from ford for Police interceptors.
    https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/...cPoliceInt.asp
However police Interceptors are juiced. Suspension is beefed by the factory frame is lightened, Transition shift points altered to get the most rev out of the motor before shift. They take out the rev limiter and throttle limiter. Now for the motor most if they are crown vic's start with a 250 hp v8 well you add the interceptor chip (that they take out before they took them auctions). The chip alters fuel to air ratio, timing delay, valve adjustment and so on) so with a lighter car and those mods you looking at say 400 hp. But its the rear end it the hat trick in 6th gear the rear end has a 1:3 ratio that means that for every one time the drive axle turns the wheels turn 3 times. In a normal car last gear is normally 1:1....get the idea.

This may or may not be true but it seems like I was told law enforcement vehicles are modified and/or upgraded. The crown vics I think are all V8's so a good amount of power to the wheels. And like was said above a vehicle for them is a tool, they are trained well in driving and not afraid to push it when they need to. My local dept is running a couple dodge chargers which is quite funny because by the time one of those cars gets up to speed they would be out of town! Its such a small town that it kinda shocked me that they upgraded already when they still had very nice Impala's. Maybe they should put that money into their employees salaries rather than new "toys". I always see them trying "pimp" when they are driving it around. One officer in particular whom I dislike very much due to his attitude but that's another story.

We have a lot of import tuners here so for HWY interceptors our why patrol shelled out major dough for 5 EVO 8's and dropped 30 grand tuning them..and to let the tuners have fun they take them to a LEGAL "Beat the Heat" race. Its a legal 1/4 mile race where all the police departments come with representing cars and you can race a the cops and any thing they bring :D.

Oh yea the EVO's have never been beat.

funny u should mention the CHargers cause my town's doing the same thing..

the cops used to have Crown Vic but then like 10 years ago (this is all actually before i lived in "my town" they all switched over to Impalas (supercharged) and now they've upgraded(???) to chargers and i was thinking that the only good that'll do is on highway chances vetually they'll catch a speeder, but my town is pretty small and "hi way chases" aren't really an issue here. My friend was talking to a cop about this and he said it's because the Impalas can't take hits (from other vehicles and weapons of various sorts) but again in my town we ain't exactly bustin up drug lords of hunting down mafia hit men.

    that is a brilliant idea!
not only is it fun for everyone, but it brings the kids and police together in a social setting that I bet cuts down on animosity year-round. whoever came up with that idea is my hero!

if you have cars that are "really tuned" and built, police cars aren't a problem. get a car that can safely go,brake and corner around 160-170 mph. the radio is really hard to outrun though:eek:
