    Aquarium size...
I did a search but did not find anything to useful. My question is rather specific.

My BP is about 25"-30" long. I have it in a 10 gallon tank. I was wondering at what size or so would you need to do a cage upgrade, to a larger size.

I think I have awhile yet. Snakes dont need much roaming room do they? My BP is in his hide like 80-90% of the time. Do they need to stretch out at all? Is their a rule on tank size?

It all depends on what look you want, just something to meet the snake's needs or something to display. Alot of people here use tub enclosures which gives the snake what it needs. I'm not sure what size most use. As far as an aquarium set up, a 40 gallon breeder tank will work. It's about 36x18x16. You have to be sure to have a secure lid for it to prevent escapes. If you want to spend more money, the best display cages I've seem are at www.showcase cages.com . Don't forget to upgrade your heat when you size up the enclosure.

I'm sure that more experienced herpers will post if I've missed anything.

I think a 10 gallon is fine for now.... I would upgrade to a 20 gallon for a sub adult. Did you ever think about tubs??? I could give more advice that way....

A 10 gallon is alright. I would stongly suggest getting a bigger one if you could. My BP is close to 48 inches now, He is in a 48Lx24Wx24H wood cage. cost me about $100 Came with heating. I think if you put it in a bigger cage you will find that he comes out and streches while exploring its cage. IMO i would say go bigger. hope this helps. :2cent:

Rule of thumb for glass enclosure:

The enclosure should be about 2/3 of the length of your Ball Python.
