    Virgina Hot Laws
I've been looking and I can't seem to find any info on Virgina Laws for keeping venomous snakes (or any snakes in general). Anybody know where I can find what I'm looking for? I'm not getting a hot any time soon, just trying to become more educated on the laws in this state.

Is there a local herp society around you? I bet if you went to a meeting you could talk to real people who own them and stuff...possibly learn a lot and get some first hand experience before you get involved with your own.

I don't keep hots...But as far as I know the laws are by city/county, not state...

Fish and Game usually have a set rules but then a city can ban them. I think its is pretty easy to obtain them there. But find an experienced keeper to teach you. They are not somthing you go out and buy with out knowing anything about them

The laws go as follows for EVERY state:

    State > County > City

So the state may not have a law but the county or city may.

Do a google search for your gov. site. Check state laws then county then city. I will see what I can dig up for you also.

A good place to start would be your local Herp Soc. In this case the Virginia Herpetological Society They have lots of information and links to relevant sites including Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

When you find it post the link here. Tks.
