I know the question has been asked before but I am still having issues over whether to use back or belly heat

How does everyone deal with the change in height when rolling their tubs over a heating pad? Do you have to have a little gap above the tub and ceiling?

If I use back heat this will pose no problem.....however I would prefer a heating pad underneath

I thought of using thin plastic strips to act as runners for the tub,

    what you guys think?

Use Flexwatt and you want have a problem..
You don't have to have the gap but you'll need more holes in the tub to help regulate the RH.

I prefer back heat so I have never had to deal with rolling the tubs over it.

I also use the tubs sideways so I have a larger warm area in the back and less length to worry about to drastic a temp difference between the back and front of the tub.

Belly heat is the most commonly used method. If you'd rather do that you can't go wrong. Back heat works, it can just be a little trickier to get right for some people. For tubs most people use Flexwatt. It's so thin it doesn't really effect the height. A UTH might cause problems. I would leave a 1/8" gap above the tubs without the UTH, or more if you use spacers. Just be careful it's not a big enough gap that a snake could escape.
