I bought mine for about 80 bucks as a baby. 100 bucks for a tank, it was on sale. Probably about 40 - 70 bucks on everything else i needed for him. I guess it all just depends on what's coming with it. If it's healthy that's good, but i'd make sure before you purchase it. How big is the Tank, what does he have for it?

30 gal tank long, 2 heating pads, 2 heating lamps with 4 bulbs extra day and night bulbs, 3 big bags of aspen, rubbermaid tub for feeding outside of tank, sexing probes, and snake bag and 2 hides... she's not fat and nor is she skinny. pretty healthy.

    Hi,

    She looks pretty dude,

As long as you are satisfied the tank and equipment can keep it set up right and you like the animal I would say you could use it as a little dinking project.

If you don't need the equipment then its probably not worth buying duplicates - and I'd try feeding her in her tank if you got her. Check out some of the threads on here asking about feeding tubs for more considered opinions than mine though. :)

It also might be an idea (assuming he knows how to use those probes and you don't) to avail yourself of the chance to learn from someone with experience.

If you decide it's worth it you could make sure shes big enough and see if you could breed her to find out if she is a genetic stripe or not. Just depends if that is something that interests you really.

Bottom line it doesn't sound hideously expensive for a snake and set up assuming it all works well enough to keep her correctly.

And if you like her thats probably the most important thing. :)

woot woot!!! bought her :P she's soo pretty and she's about to shed so her stripe and colors are kinda dark and faded but he told me when she's done its a bright copper/yellowish stripe. i gave in, i went to his house and she was sooo beautiful and very "exploring". she slithered around me and up to my head then sat on my head/shoulders :P his setup was rather nice just not the type where someone did alot of research on her husbandry setup. came with everything but instead of basking bulbs/night bulbs he was using 99cent black light bulbs so i replaced that. shes very curious peeking her head out of her hide and moves alot. but thanks for comments she IS gorgeous ill show pics as soon as i finish her setup. he didnt have a thermometer/hydrometer so i got to get one for her and he only had 1 hide and i dont have anything big enough for hot hide so :P but she is beautiful and im soo happy :) thanks for opinion

well he showed me her usual feeding "ritual" he takes her out and puts her in a tub. he's been doing for 5 years with her but i dont like the ideal of disturbing her after she just swallowed her meal. i dont know what would be better, ive read the posts and its a big opinion :P thanks.
