Reptile Expo on Long Island NY 3/17/07
First, I wonder if anyone here on the board might have attended this?.. I went and I had a great time! I never been to a Reptile Expo and I never knew if you can purchase or not! Well so far in my collection I have my normal Ball python, My pastel and I got a really excellent deal on a spider and I couldn't resist it!! It was like Christmas for us Reptile and snake lovers there! Most of all.. I got to hold and see all these different Morph Herps that I so often look at here on this site or online in general! Mojave's, Bumble Bee's, Spiders, Albino's, Pinstripe, Piebald, Carmel Pastels, Lemon, Orange etc.. and the list goes on! I wanted to come home with everyone! I was really looking to pick myself up a Mojave.. but I have to say it was like dealing with a car salesman.. and as the event grew close to the end prices dropped. Not for ever vendor.. but some did! So now here is my new girl... Yes I'm wearing gloves only because she has never been held by a human before. So.. I just wanted to break her out of her shell and when I say shell.. I mean shell. She was so lacking human contact that she did what any ball would do in the wild when they are scared and that is roll themselves in a TIGHT ball!.. Well it didn't take too long before she started peeking herself out and got more comfortable in my gloves.. I did eventually take one glove off so she can start getting familiar with my sent. Anyhow.. if anyone has NEVER been to a Reptile Expo... ITS A MUST!! Every snake, Turtle, spiders even bugs. Tanks, Racks, frozen mice/rats, incredible hides that I wish I had the money after purchasing my Spider BP I would have got. Humidifiers, Therms.. etc. I'm sure you get the picture! It was cool to see older couples in their 50's purchasing Boa's. They had some snakes there that I never seen before.. it was a blast! Anyway.. here is my new addition.. She's beautiful.. at least in my opinion!

Well the breeder I got it from told me that because of the thousands of different snakes he has.. its impossible for him to hold them. This Spider was hatched I believe in August. He said the only time he has ever touched him was to put him in the truck to bring to the expo. Its a shame and believe me I agree... so I had 3 reasons to buy her! One she is beautiful and I always wanted a Spider, I got a great price on her and last.. she would be held and put in a happy home! :D

I'm glad you found the snake you have always wanted! That is awesome! Incidentally, I have never held any snake with gloves. Especially Balls which are not very likely going to bite you.

    that cracked me up! :D

if you really think about it, someone had to hold the snake for cleaning and routine stuff. the seller might have been joking or referring to holding it regularly.

shows are cool, it's nice to see someone's expression when they see some of the morphs for the first time!

Oh no he was serious!.. I'm sure he might have picked it up to move it or to clean for a sec, but what I think he meant is he never had time to truly handle her. So when he grabbed her out she was in a tight ball for a few, then put her back in her enclosure. This is my thought at least.
