interesting morning!

About 2 weeks ago, my son's albino female escaped her tub in one of my rack systems. The current snake room serves dual purpose - snake room and storage, so it has lots of hiding places.

This morning, I went in to look for her, and to check on the other snakes, and discovered TWO tubs open in that same rack!!! WHAT?!?!? I checked the tubs, and sure enough, my biggest female was AWOL. I started thinking that either my son or I were sleep walking, opening cages, and leaving them open!?!? So, just by chance, I attempted to close the empty cage, and it wouldn't close all the way. Hmmm. I pulled the tub completely out, and there, in the back of the slot, was an albino bp!!! YAAYYY!!!! After checking her out, and showing her to Adam, I put her back into her cage. Then I started looking for "Big Momma". She's about 5' long and over 2kg, so I figured she would be easier to find than "Wendy" was. I did find her just one slot up in the rack, laying beside the tub. So, all snakes are now accounted for.

It appears that "Wendy" was the sleepwalker! She got in behind the tubs, and pushed them out! I think my next project is locks for all the tubs! The downside to locks is that if the cages had been locked, I wouldn't have found her this morning. The upside is, she probably wouldn't have escaped in the first place!

The other upside is that I have what I think is a pretty good snake trap design stored away in my head. I'm going to get to work on that sometime soon, and I'll let you guys know when it is done.
