Good News!

my bp had his first baby rat!!! :D i just posted a thread very recently about my little guy striking at me and being agressive... well hopefully he wont be anymore!... i bought a live baby rat from my local pet store... i left the rat inside the tub with the snake... 45 mins passed and nothing happened except for my snake striking twice and missing.... i was aabout to give up so i grabbed the tongs and grabbed the mouse but then i noticed that my bp's tongue was flickering like crazy so i thought "ok just once more" as soon as i lifted up the tongs ... BAM.... coiled around him so fast... he didnt have him in his mouth, just had him coiled tightly... so i left him in there in the dark.... went to the gym, came back and the mouse was gone!! :) ............................ i just have a few questions, i had to take out the hide in the tub because there wasnt enough room so now in the rubbermaid; theres my snake, water dish and a bunch of wet paper towel substrate (wet because of the humidity from the heating pad underneath the water dish).... i just want to know, WHEN AND HOW i should switch the substrate because the entire enclosure is SOAKED and he has NO hide in there??? and when can i place him inside his new tank (its all ready to go) ???

We'll I'd switch out the substrate ASAP... Idk about putting him back. Since he just ate, he's going to want to hide. Move him back now, I guess.(I don't know, don't listen to me :P)

If you have the temps up and ready in the other tub, I'd switch him tonight. If the temps aren't stable, I'd get them up and running and then make the switch. I usually wait 48 hours before disturbing my bps after a meal, but in this case I'd make an exception and wait only 24 hours.

Can I ask why you fed him when you had plans to move him?

it had already been almost 2 weeks since he last ate and if i moved him to the new tank i would have to make him wait another week (3 weeks in total) for him to eat again... and i dont want a hungry agressive snake biting me while trying to put him into his new home

One week is nothing in the life of a healthy bp. It took me almost 6 weeks to get one girl settled in and eating.
