Snake dies

Ok, not a snake person on a whole. Not that I don't like them I am just not knowledgeable, but very trainable. Have always loved animals though. The person whom I love also loves snakes. They are his babies. He had a huge python. 11 1/2- 12 feet. We believed she was possibly pregnant- but was not sure. Last Tues she was making odd noises. I guess the next day he inspected her more and found she had a lot of mucus in her mouth. He went to the vet and received injectable Baytril. I am guessing the vet believed her to have a upper respiratory infection. She received two injections- every other day. We gave the first seres of shots Weds. night. and the second set on Friday evening. She passed away sometime Saturday night.
How prone are snakes to upper respitory infections?
Is it common? Would that cause death so quickly?

Common if you have low temps and high humidity. Sorry to hear about the loss though.

Sorry to hear about the death of the snake. When husbandry needs are not met, they are very common. As far as why the snake died so quickly, the answer is, it probably didn't. Snakes, like many animals, often don't show any symptoms until an illness is very serious. Hope this helps a little.

Just as an FYI- he was caring for the snakes. Not myself. lol He monitors the temps and humidity. He had her for a long time. But, if they do not show symptoms until something it really bad- that may explain. I am trying to educate myself on what would have caused it though. Thanks for the feedback.
