What was the first herp you ever owned?
Mine was a box turtle named Squishy.

A green iguana is what got me into snakes, the iguana just didn't do it for me. Plus you really gotta be on top of them they poop everyday and eat everyday.

green anoles are what kicked it all off. after all the garter snakes i caught outside.

I guess you can't count the lizards and snakes I brought home as a kid that my mom wouldn't let me keep? :D
My first legitimate herp was a green iguana when I was about 12... it was -not- the best choice for an inexperienced keeper. And the PetCo setup didn't help matters... he died of intestinal parasites at around 6 months--at least, so said the vet. Poor Keoke... I'm sure it was a combination of poor husbandry, an inexperienced keeper and the liklihood that he was WC.
Live and learn, I suppose.

my first herp was a green anole that i caught in south carolina at a family reunion. his name was arnie. :P

Woo...i'm the first one with a BP first. I never thought I was interested in reptiles until I had a girlfriend that had a cornsnake and convinced me to go out and get a BP, now shes gone, and i'm obsessed ;')

A garter snake i caught in my friends back yard when i was like 8 - ya i know now not to keep stuff from the wild but my dad never told me that.
