I have no idea when it comes to my BP and taking her outside. I have seen pictures of them in the grass and their owners letting them explore. Can they get mites that way? Is it safe to let them roam around?

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as it's under control all the time. The more important concern would be fertilizers or pesticides in the grass. If YOU know that the grass is safe, then the snake should be okay, but since he'd be slithering thru all the chemicals the grass has been treated with, you need to be aware of what's on the grass.

You can always inspect for mite and ticks when you get back home. But what about the temps???? Our neighborhood kids keep asking if I'll bring my snakes outside to show them off, but it's frigging 40* in the sun right now!:colbert: :colbert: Nope! My snakes will stay in their nice warm homes for quite a while. Maybe some time during the summer when it's 85*+, but I don't let them crawl around. I hold them in my hands, or let the kids hold (with my help as needed) or pet them.

On a side note:

Since your other thread and question is about your snake's roaming and the possibility that either its stressed or the husbandry might be off, you'll want to postpone the outdoors until the snake isn't stressed, and is eating / shedding / pooing regularly. The outdoor adventures can come later. :)
