    Heat Temperature Checker
    okay no one responded to my post on another thread so i decided to make a new one... for as far as checking temperature in tanks go... i only need one thermometer that checks both temp. and humdity AND has a probe?? would a 2 in 1 thermometer/hygrometer with a probe be enough to check the temp of the warm and cool side at once?? where ideally should i place the thermometer and probe?? thankss

    Yes, a lot of people use the Accurite thermometer which can be found at Walmart for about $13.

    Place the unit on the cool end and run the probe to the warm end in the hide. It'll show you both temps and the humidity.

    could i also place the probe outside of the hide in the substrate? (im going to use coconut husk)

    Sure, but keep in mind that your snake will spend most of the time inside its hide which is where you want it to be in the low 90s. Hides can often trap heat, so if your probe is measure 92F outside of the hide, it maybe be much warmer inside.

    ohhh thats true... and also how can i keep the cord and probe away so it doesnt bother my snake, gets in his way or is able to be moved by him?? and where should i keep the actual thermometer (its kind of big)?

    funny...i went to the local walmart yesterday and they didnt have them.all they had were regular thermometers but no accurites:mad:

    *edit- hmmm looks like reptile depot,only an hour away from where i buy my tarantulas from, has "zilla thmermometer/humidity" gauges.the same thing as accurite just looks different and costs $15.thats my best bet instead of running around the local stores around here.
