    How long till eggs?
I whitnessed my first lock the other day (pics on the way), and i'm just curious how long after (if it was successful) I can expect to see eggs. What's generally the time frame between lock and eggs, and then eggs till hatch?

A lock is not enough info to predict a time til laying ... could be 2 months, could be 9 months ... depends on too many variables ... temp cycles, females stage of follicular development, fertility of the male, etc.

Keep pairing them until they don't lock anymore ... watch the female for odd behavior ... if she's going to lay eggs, at some point she'll ovulate and swell up like a balloon for 24 hours ... 45 days after that (give or take) you'll get eggs ... 54 - 62 days after that (give or take) the eggs will hatch if incubated under the correct conditions.

Congrats on the lock Jam Man!!!!! :sweeet:

wonderful...thank ya Adam. I was getting a little worried because in one month i've got to move. I don't want to be in a situation where I have to find a way to transport an incubator full of eggs.... :O

Nate if it ever did come down to needing to move while you have eggs in a incubator you could get some heat packs. Then you pack the container with the eggs and the heat packs will hold the heat for a short time.

I have an incubator from Avey called the ARTI and it can be plugged in a car lighter and can heat or cool. It comes in handy for transporting, emergency or back up. I figured i would mention it incase it comes up for you or anyone else. Congrats on the lock! Hope you have many more.
