Herpstat II / Heating Question

I'm ditching my 500R thermostats and stepping it up a notch, my Herpstat II should be here in a day or so.

I have 3 heating devices, a UTH on the cold side, UTH on hot side, and CHE on the hot side.

The herpstat II has 2 outputs and 2 probes, but can I place multiple devices on the same output?

Here is my thinking:

Put the CHE and UTH hot side on the same output and put the probe around the hide.

The 2nd output would just have the cold side UTH and the probe would be in/near the cold side hide.

Will that work? Is there a better way to set this up?

Each output of the herpstat cannot exceed 400 watts so that is the first thing you need to check. Why do you need the CHE?

My Herpstat II is 700 watts / channel. That aside, you can plug both devices into one channel as long as they don't go above the wattage rating.


I also question the need for the CHE, unless you have trouble controlling your ambient temps ... I would recommend trying it both ways (w and w/o CHE) and see how it does.

BTW, love the Herpstat II, I have it on my breeder rack, with hot and cold sides on separate channels.

I probably don't from spring until winter, but I was tuning the temps a few weeks ago when it was colder. The ambient temps in my house were like 68 degrees, I couldn't get the temps right without a 100w lamp.

I also need the lamp/CHE to remove humidity, I live in Florida

Just got my herpstat II today, this thing is really cool. So easy to setup and use. Nice that the probes are thermometers too, can just glance at the herpstat screen and see exacty whats going on in there
