    Branch temperature?
I just got one of those PE-1 temp guns and i've been checking the whole cage. The top of the wood branch thing that I have in my tank is about 98-100 degrees. I know the snake isn't camping up there on the top, but is this OK or should I remove the branch completely?

On the ground around/in the hide is 84 on cold and 91.5 on hot currently.

    Thanks

I wonder why the branch is so hot. Is it one of those heated ones?

You can remove it, as BPs don't really need to climb, although they usually will when one is provided.
Your other temps are just right, though!

It's not right under, but it's near the daytime lamp that I have on. I suppose I can always reposition it somewhere else

He seems to really like crawling around on that branch though, I see it on there all the time.

Is the high temp OK though for temporary since it's just moving around on it?

Wood will hold heat and since its closer to the heat light it will remain hot.You really do not need a climbing branch as ball pythons are ground dwellers.

I wouldn't worry about the temp of the wood, and my balls love to climb too. However I would worry about your BP reaching the top of the cage and burning himself on the mesh under the lamp. If you can, I would move the branch to the cool side or get a smaller one maybe.....?
