my snake never comes out

temps and humidity are fine, but he never comes out of his hides. not at all not in the day not ever. he goes in all 3 on hot side and cool side but never just comes out to explore is this normal?

Yea this is normal. They love to hide

you said three on the hot side how big of an enclosure do you have him in??

I dont know if its normal or not but my BP doesnt do much exploring around in her cage. She comes out every now and then to switch hides or get a drink... she usually does most of her exploring when i take her out and let her roam around the house while i watch her.

That's your snake thermoregulating...changing hides when he needs to cool off and thats awesome that you have all those options for him. If he were to be out of his hides roaming a lot, then he'd be trying to tell you something wasn't right...

I'm new to BPs--and my boy's only been here about 3 weeks. He tends to hang out in his hides (or under the KRAFT paper substrate :D ) during the day. At night, he'll come out and do some cruising around--but he usually starts doing that as I'm getting ready for bed :)

Ball pythons are nocturnal, which means they are generally not active durring the day.

mine stays in his hides during the day but at night he's all over the place.

Sounds like a ball python to me...

ok cool yea he's in a 20l hides 2 plus a water bowl with a rock over it so it's like a cave.just thought he would come out more at night. thanks all

Snakes vary quite greatly in personality and shyness. I have a ball that will never come out in the day for anything, I also have one that will come out and sit on top of his hide and watch me while I'm in the room.
