advice needed on baby rack..
My friend is breeding her BCIs, and we agreed to build her a "hatchling" rack (I say hatchling b/c I am not sure what baby boas are called.. neonates maybe? I know they don't "hatch.." )So what is a good size for the tubs to be, so they are small enough for baby seurity but will also be good for a few months until they are eating and sold? I really do not know the size of boa babies, this is why I ask; thanks in advance.
Re: advice needed on baby rack..
A 6 qt rack will do for a little while. If she is expecting them to be there for longer, than 12 qts IMO
Re: advice needed on baby rack..
Thanks! Unlike BPs and the rack we need for them, we won't have the luxury of "oh, the eggs will be incubating for a few months, so we can build it then..." I want to get this thing built asap.. thanks for the advice!
Re: advice needed on baby rack..
I agree, 12 qts would be best and would last for a couple of months, after that, you can send them to me and I will gladly hold onto them and house em! lol
You could probably start with 27 qt tubs actually if you have enough room and they will do fine in those for about a year I would say.
I kept my female in a 40 breeder from the time she was a month old and she did fine.
Re: advice needed on baby rack..
6 qt shoebox tubs are perfect and will keep a boa for a few months easily. Here is mine:
