moving the colony to the garage... *sniff*
because 5 months ago when i moved them out of the herp room (too small and enclosed for them in there) i promised my husband that their final home would be the garage and not the dining room where they are currently residing.
well first we had to clean out the garage to make space for them. then it was too cold so i wanted to wait. then it was still cold but not so cold so i had to buy a heater. then i procrastinated.
the garage is clean. the heater has been tested and is ready to go. we are now fixing up the kitchen/dining room and the husband says it is TIME. granted, two large rat racks in the dining room isn't the nicest looking thing in the world...
but i'm attached to them! i LIKE having them inside where i can interact with them more often and walk past and look in on them. who knew i'd ever be attached to a rat...or 20. :P
so i'm sad and feeling a little silly for feeling sad over their move. i guess i'll just have to start spending more time in the garage. :)

I know the feeling, our rats are downstairs and they need to move to the garage ....:( The rats are as much fun as the snakes sometimes!!!
Where do you live? It is so cold here I think I am going to have to close off an area and insulate it to be able to hold heat in. Did you have to do anything like that?

i live in savannah, georgia so it is starting to warm up here now. spring is on the way! i will still need the heater at night and probably here and there during the day for the next month but no extra insulation is going to be needed. i got an oil filled heater a while back and tested it out--it actually does a very good job on its own of warming up the space.
my biggest problem is going to be the heat--in just a few short months it will be HOT again. i think i am going to have to put a window unit in the garage--NOT so much looking forward to the electric bill with that addition, but i'm not sure i have many other options.

insulate it right and it won't have to run much
