Length on a Columbian v. a regular redtail
My local pet store jsut got in a Columbian Boa, and im very interested, but i was wondering how much smaller or bigger they are than a BCC or BCI retail. Im looking for something around 6-7 feet. Thanks in advance.

While its sometimes confusing, generally Colombian's sold in the pet stores are Boa Constrictor Imperator while the true redtails are Boa Constrictor Constrictor. BCC get larger than BCI. Your best bet would be a male Colombian which should get right in that range while the females will be slightly bigger. I have a female BCI that is 8+ feet. Hope this makes sense!

There are many locales (or is that localities) of BCI and Colombian is one of them. Check out these links for more info:

Also, what it sold as a "colombian" boa in a petstore, is probably not even from Colombia but still a B.c.i. local of some sort.
A female if feed on a weekly schedule for the 1st year and then every 2 weeks after that will likely never pass up the 7' mark and will be a lean and very healthy. Obese boas have many problems which is why I recomend feeding enough food to keep their body shape at a good level and not much more than that. I could feed my 6'+ female every 3 weeks and she wouldn't be considered an unhealthy weight.
Also, there are some localities of B.c.i. that only get to 6' tops like hogg island boas and most other island localities as well as some Central American locals.
Hope this helps and makes sense to you

A little expensive but not unreasonable; I got my Hog island for that much.
