Petco goodness
On our way to the Pittsburgh airport on Wednesday, we made the obligatory trip to Petco. During the 45 minutes spent handling the balls and BCI a sales assosciate and I got to talking about my herps - how all ten of them have me quite whipped.. Then he told me about a fully grown/adult ball python that had come in the day before that was up for adpotion.. everything free: snake, tank, decor, etc. "It's only as big as these ones," he said. And, the BPs that he was referring to were no older than a few months.
After a quick call to mommy and the necessary questioning [from which I learned nothing but that it was being fed two pinkies every few weeks] the snake was brought out.
She's no more than a few months old, has one eye cap, and her vents/nostrils/mouth/etc are all clear. Very active, just a bit thin. I was warned of some bad cage agresssion, but she's been nothing but a doll so far.
Anyway, photos!

Re: Petco goodness
i just have to say this because ive seen so much neg things about petco on here that we just got our bp from petco here in nny it is a brand new store so maybe that has something to do with it , but we got a great snake we kept going in every since they opened which was bout a month ago and all there snakes were seperated they had red tails at first then the bp and we ended up with this bp that has the best temperment of any i have read about and even the people that worked there they had 2 and the other one nobody ever wanted to touch cause it was agressive, but this one was very sweet , one of the guys that worked there had has snakes in the past and was kinda upset with the fact that we bought it. will admit that the tank wasnt as humid as ive read it needs to be especially in the mist of shedding but other than that was good, ate the next day after we brought it home and just fed it again tonight . so i know lots of people have had bad experiances with the store but i must say they were 100 times better than the other local pet store and we are very pleased with our new little member of the fam. :carrot:

Re: Petco goodness
Congrats!
We had the same experience, lonewolf...our bp is from a Petco, which was brand new at the time, and she's been wonderful. Since then, we've have seen some pretty awful looking reptiles in there, but we are happy with our Petco girlie. =)

Re: Petco goodness
Looks like a great find; cool. :)
I like to say "Petco is as Petco does." I personally only buy from breeders that I trust, and I know the sexes, ages, eating habits of them. But for someone who wants a pet snake and does not care about that particular stuff, pet stores are fine in my opinion.

Re: Petco goodness
Nice save!!! thats sweet!
I have always thought petco had good animals, its more their lack of knowledge abotu them that is the issue. For example your adult full grown BP, lol, thats the same size as a few month old hatchling. :) There are somegood ones out there tho. :)
