Does any one have knobs?

I saw an Australian Knobs at the NARBC show for the first time.... the guy said they are very simular to Leo's.... If this is true, wouldn't we see more of them?????

i would LOVE to have some of those or some amyae. they are just way too freaking cute!

maybe what the breeder meant by them being similar to leos is that they are somewhat similar in care and husbandry requirements. they haven't been captive bred for nearly as long as leos and i'm not sure if they are quite as prolific, thus the reason they aren't so widely available yet.

and no trouble at all about the pm's. i'm kind of a crestie nerd so i like talkin' about them. :nerd: :D

I would imagine a reason could be Australia ceasing exportation, so now that there are no more wild caught animals prices will go up, and they will be more scarce to the average hobbyist. And by average hobbyist i mean no offense, just those that aren't avid gekkophiles.

Don't tell me that, I could kick myself for not bringing him home if that's the case.... lol & No offence taken! :P I've had Leo's for years and years..... And was comfortable coming home with a Crestie because of all the great info on them and the amount of memberds that keep them with success. I wasn't going to consider something that I knew nothing about, and had just seen for the first time....

But if they are not going to be available, that would BLOW! :(

Well I wasn't saying very limited availability, and I by no means am an expert on Nephrurus, but they have fascinated me for a while, and I've looked into them after successfully breeding leo's my post was pure conjecture, and I was saying that the more limited availability from no exportation from australia would lead to increased prices which I believe are around 500-600 for the rough knobbies and decreased availability simply because they aren't being imported and what is here now is all we have to work with. This could be likened to the pygmy monitors, and more of a stretch eastern indigoes. Lack of new blood yields fewer and higher priced. Again, not a species I've had the pleasure of working with, just some thoughts on why they're not so common.

I do hope that makes sense written down and not just in my head...

I know the guys (BHMorrill & jgjulander) from Australian Addiction work with knobs...they have some pretty sweet looking ones at that! I'm sure they'd have any information that you are looking for Laura. Check out their website.:rockon:
