Sav molting

Could someone tell me when Sav monitors molt how long does it usually take? My Sav has been in molt for about ten days now and its just coming off in little flakes and patches, he has got a deep water bath that he goes in every day in his viv so I dont think hydration is a factor. I have three snakes and they shed in one go, and whilst I realise that a lizard isnt going to shed his skin in one lump I thought it would only take a couple of days. Any tips would be gratefully received... thanks :)

Monitors are one of many types of lizards that shed in multiple pieces. I have kept lizards that were always in some state of sheding.

Giving a lizard a good soak during shed is not a bad thing, but the majority of the time it is not necessary if the monitor is being keep on an appropriate substrate.

In any situation, it is always good to make sure no pieces are being retained on the tip of the tail or toes.

Thanks for that Daniel, he goes in the water by himself, you know the usual monitor and water thing...I am thinking about putting some sort of flush system on the tub and training him to pull the chain when he's done...., I am getting him used to having lots of cuddles and was worried about the skin pulling where it is flaky and hurting him, you know catching on clothes, a bit like us having sunburn.

The skin pulling should not be an issue. It has been my experience that if a piece if skin gets stuck on something they use that as a chance to pull more off...it won't hurt them ;)
