New Python Owner
Just got my first Royal/Ball python about 3 weeks ago or maybe it was a month ago.I also have a corn snake but i have to say that the python is a much easier snake to handle.
she loves having her head and neck gently rubbed with my finger or thumb, whne i stop she lifts her head and flicks her tongue fast :snake: at me to tell me she wants me to stay doing it.
she also knows how to play peek a boo,,yes a snake that plays peek a boo,and if me or anyone else that is holding her makes a kissing noise at her, she will bring her head to within one or two inches of ur mouth and flick her tongue at you :snake: .for a snake she is so affectionate, even when i am in a bad mood, she can tell especially if i have her out on the bed and she knows im in a bad mood she will slither up onto my chest and get me to stroke her head and neck.its kinda cute.
i have no pics of her yet or her set up(i have to add some more things to it yet before i do take some pics)
give me some time and i wil have a few pics for you all to see. :snake:

Re: New Python Owner
cheers,,hahahaha yeah i know, i was surprised at how easy she was.loves being handled, can just let her roam around on the bed,or floor and she wont stray more than a few feet away from me,then she turns around and comes rightback.amazing.i have my corn snake thank next to hers and the 2 of them just noticed each other the other day and sometimes sit there flicking their tongues at each other, its rather funny.

Re: New Python Owner
We got ours about the same time you did. I must say that everytime my b/f saw a snake outside he would run and scream like a girl but for some reason he was intreagued by this breed as he read in an issue of a reptile magazine about how great they were so he decided that my 8 year old live in nephew wanted one lol. We got it, we all handle it, my nephew puts it around his neck and watches tv with him. It's been great, actually the more we looked into them the more we were interested. Today we went to our first reptile expo and purchased 2 het ghosts so we're pretty excited.

Re: New Python Owner
im gonna be getting more soon i want to leave it a year or so though, see how carmen grows first, want to get an albino of some sort, maybe breed them if i can when they get to breeding age.
people were the same when i got carmen, they were scared of snakes, but they all wanted to hold her and touch her once they saw how calm and docile she was.

Re: New Python Owner
The whole breeding thing was confusing for me at the genetics perspective if you're trying to breed more than just the normal. If you haven't already been there someone referred me to the Markus Jayne website which had good genetic visualizations with all diff. types of snakes.

Re: New Python Owner
ah yeah its confusing alright.a mate of mine knows about breeding them, she is in australia for 6 months at the moment though, so she doesnt even know i got my python yet.
there is some weird variations out there alright, but i dont think id go for the really weird colours, i rather the natural/normal look,,its more apealing i think, but then again everyone has their prefference.
always loved pythons tho,not just royals, butpythons in general, the reason i got a royal is because i have little neices and nephews and sometimes they want to handle the snakes so i got them to get them used to snakes,my 7 year old nephew used to be scared of snakes, now he loves them.
