How often do you feed your baby leos?
How often to you all feed your baby leos? I've been feeding mine about 3 dusted crickets every other day. Does that sound like too much, or is that right?

Not sure if this is even the right thing to do, but my instinct would be to give about 12 appropriately sized insects per week.

Gecko people correct me if I'm wrong! :P

at the pet shop i work at we feed our baby leos, beardies and cresties pinhead crickets everyday. they always eat and since they can range from a few days to weeks old we would rather be safe then sorry. as they get older they can eat less. maybe every other day.

last season i hatched many a leo baby. :P i kept a dish of small mealworms in their enclosures at all times and fed small dusted crickets every 3-4 days or so. that seemed to work quite well and made lots of big healthy geckos. :)

bingo. at that age you want them to have food when ever they are ready to eat it. :D

A good rule of thumb that a lot of leo keepers go by, especially for babies.

Feed them as many insect feeders as they will eat in about 15 to 20 minutes. Or until they walk away. It varies from leo to leo. You can also like mentioned above is keep a dish with mealies. You will have to change them out daily with freshly gutloaded mealies. :)

This is what I went by and mine grew like crazy. Sometimes they will eat a lot other times they don't. I did this everynight by just dropping in a few crickets, leaving them for a few minutes, if they are all gone drop in a few more.

Then once they grew into adults, they eat a lot less, due to the season mine have gone from eating every other day to every two or three days.

    Hope this helps,
    Kristy

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm gonna pick up some meal worms tomorrow when I'm at the pet store.
