    My Boy's First Meal--Success!
Even though Auryn's only been here 5 days so far, I decided to try and give him a mouse this morning. I thawed the mouse out over night and warmed him up this morning, held him out with the hemostat and waited...it took auryn about a minute to realize that I was offering him food and not disturbing his privacy (underneath the KRAFT paper) for no reason!

He grabbed the mouse, I gave the tail a few tugs to seal the deal and then I left the room, turned the lights off and let him eat without being bothered. When I came back, the mouse was gone, and he was stretching out across the bottom of the tub (still under the KRAFT paper :)

No pictures! Didn't want to jinx his first feeding with me ;)

I'm sure I'll be the perfect obnoxious new snake-mom and post threads and pictures AAAALLLL about his firsts. "OMG! First Shed!", "OMG! He moved up a prey size!" "OMG! Look how cute he is all the time!" :rolleye2:

;) Seriously, though--thanks everyone for the congrats! I'm so proud of Auryn. He seems like he's finally getting used to being in a bigger tub. And since he's my only Valentine today (the boy lives 2 hours away and works tonight), I'm especially doting.

And doting from a distance is hard! I still have to wait a few days before I can handle him at all :D

    AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

    congrats :carrot:

I just finished the first handling session with mine

I gotta warn you....put him on a towel and have a bunch of paper towels ready because the first handling will probably turn into the first pooping!

what a mess! luckily I anticipated it since he dumped on me the day I handled him at the breeder :P

so a couple more days and you'll have some new pics to share when he comes out to play

Jess, it might be that - or it could be any number of things - overfed before, enclosure too large, hides not small enough, too much handling, temps not right.

I can't remember if you ever posted your set-up before, and if you did, I missed it. Maybe you can start another thread and we can try to help you out, so we don't hijack this one! :)
