    Good starter tortoise?
    I'm looking for a good starter tort for my friend. She would like one that is more of a desert tort, one that does not get to big, 10 to 13 inches as an adult.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Russian and greeks are more airidish torts, make good pets, especially the russians.3 toed and ornate box turtles make good pets as well, just a bit more humidity needed for them.

    we recently added a herman's tortoise to our household and he is just the best. :) great starter tort with relatively easy husbandry requirements. they are mediterranean grassland torts that don't get too big and are quite active and friendly.
