Need help I have a problem and its my first time with this.
I feel so bad I really cried and thats hard to do!!!!!! I bought a group of breeding size females + rack + a big apple thermostate some time back. I check my snakes water and temps everyday and take them out once a week for an over all look over and handeling also cleaning of the tubs. to day when I go in to clean I notice everyone is out of their tubs and on the cool side. VERY VERY odd. Well long story short my thermostat gave out on me and spiked:taz: :mad: :O :taz: . My biggest girl got burned :cry: blisters and a redish brown bellie. Got a vet trip planned and moved her to a clean dry tub treated it with triple antibotic onitment and ordered a new helix dbs1000 from Rich.
This is my first burn any other advice..
Please be kind I feel really really bad for her. I checked everyone else and they are fine just her.

Don't get to down on yourself.....things like this happen, but guess what now it won't happen to you again..........my suggestion would to be grab a cheap, thermostat and plug it into your good one as a back up..............the odds of both going bad, are not likely! :D

See if you cant get your hands on silvadine (sp); a vet can prescribe this to you and it is not expensive at the pharmacy.. it is a cream that is used on burns, road rash, etc. For now I think you have made phenominal choices as far as treating her burns for now, keep up the good work. And I hope she heals quickly!
By the way, dont be so hard on yourself, this was not your fault, bottom line, it is something that could happen to ANY of us.

Thanks I just really feel like the parent that let their kid get hurt. I sat there putting on the ointment going "oh baby yea I know it hurts daddys sorry...Its ok we'll get you all better"

Unless you're gonna sit there and stare at your thermostat all day, ther's not much you could do, please don't feel too hard on yourself :(
Hope your girl has a speedy recovery. I'm glad that only one of your snakes got burned in this situation!

First and foremost, it's not your fault. The Tstat gave out so don't blame yourself for this unfortunate incident. The fact that you care a lot about your snakes is quite evident from your reaction.
The best thing is to follow some of the advice given on here and take her to a vet ASAP(of course you know all of this..). In the mean time do the best you can to keep her comfortable and try not to disturb her too much, unless you are checking up on her. Remember, these are hardy creatures and can bounce back from some serious trauma when treated well imho.
I hope she will be ok and I wish you and her the best on the road to recovery.
