Boa eats pit viper, with x-rays to prove it
...and danged if I can't find any links or pictures. :(
At work today, my vet brought me a copy of DVM news magazine, with a cover story about the winning x-ray from an annual contest called "They Ate What?", sponsored by, you guessed it, an x-ray technology company (Eklin, for the profoundly curious).
So I've scanned the DVM website, and no sign of this issue in the recent archives. I'll have to see if I can borrow the hardcopy from work tomorrow and post a scan.
The story (with accompanying very cool x-ray) were of a boa constrictor who escaped from her cage, and was found several days later in the cage of the pit viper, with pit viper nowhere to be found. They x-rayed Princess and found the pit viper along with the viper's last meal (a small rodent), clearly visible. It was one of the niftiest things I've seen in years.
