New Here, help please

I have to take snake down to a vet 2 hours away so I was wondering what anyone could tell me on how to transport him safely, Thanks

Well if it's cold, have some heat packs ready. he needs to stay warm!

You can put him inside a pillow case, and put that inside a rubbermaid. Put the heat packs on the outside, direct contact could cause burns.

One thing you can do is get your car nice and warm...start the car and turn the heat on. Bring your snake out in his container and he'll be fine. Good luck :gj:

Here's what I would do:

Get a box and insulate it with styrofoam...or use one of those small styrofoam coolers...anything really well insulated to help prevent a drastic temperature swing when you move from the warm house to the warm car.

Bag the snake in a pillowcase turned inside out. The bagging helps them feel much more secure for traveling and helps prevent escapes. "Inside out" keeps them from tangling in any loose seam threads.

Place the bag in your insulated box and cushion everything with towels that prevent the bag from shifting at all during transport.

Preheat the car so that it's already toasty warm before taking the snake out of the house, or out of the vet's office.

And you can place hand-warmers in the box or a small hot water bottle to help keep things warm enough inside the box, if you feel the box will be exposed to cold temperatures for too long.

Thank you both a lot, yeah it kind of sucks that we don't have a vet closer than that but that's south dakota for ya

yeh well hey props to you for at least taking the right steps to visit a vet.

Is something wrong with him? or are you just getting him checked out?

Oh and putting the top on the styrofoam cooler won't suffocate will it?

Well i want to see if he's a he or a she and just get a check-up because i haven't had him for very long so i just want to make sure he's ok overall
