    A good book
 Since the death of my sons Ball python yesterday, I have been nulling over what went wrong. I now know that the advise I was given was in part wrong from the local chain. So back to square one. Can someone reccomend a great guide for beginners like me to care and feed for a Ball Pythin properly. I really don't care how much it costs, only that it can guide me though the basics and help me keep my next ball alive and healthy. I have printed the guide sheet that this website offers. Thank you.

I'd start off with our caresheet.... http://www.ball-pythons.net/modules....warticle&id=59

And also check out the stickies at the top of the bp sections ... http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/f...splay.php?f=61 and http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/f...splay.php?f=62

Read as much as you can, and when you are finished ask any and all questions that you can come up with. I think that will get you the information you need, but you would really like a good book or two as well

I have a copy of "Ball Pythons in Captivity" by Kevin McCurley that really gives a solid rundown of the basics including enclosure information, feeding information, signs of illnesses...things like that. It's the first book he published and it's a small 100-pager. In combination with BP.net, this little book and the site taught me a lot--and all I needed to know :)

More recently, Kevin published "The Complete Ball Python", which goes into genetics of morphs, too...I don't personally own this, but I've heard good things. You can find either of them on Amazon.

Actually, I think Ball Pythons in Captivity came out after The Complete Ball Python (but I've been known to be wrong).

Both books above are great additions to your library as well as VPI's Pythons of the World, Vol II: Ball Pythons. Although this may be more comprehensive than the casual hobbiest might need or want - but a GREAT book to have!
