shouldnt this be contained?
at petco tonight i was looking at some bedding when i see 8 little brown mice running on the floor. a lady next to me almost had a heart attack i told the manager they had mice running around and they said "there are hundreds of wild mice living in our stores"they said they have traps down and they arent working. isnt this unsanitary?
Re: shouldnt this be contained?
Next thing you know, you'll see little Ball Pythons with price tags attached to them zipping around the store, they of course did this to take care of the mouse problem and allow them to sell more BP's :P:P LMAO

Sounds like something you could alert some officials to. Health department? I dunno, since it's not a restaurant or whatever...but still...seems like it would be a violation of SOME city code to have wild mice running around a business that way. ICK!
Re: shouldnt this be contained?
unsanitary yes, a fact of life yes. Most people would be shocked at how many places have mice running around. 90% of all restaurants have atleast a small mice/rat infestation. Now when it gets to the point that you see them in the daylight its become a big infestation and that warrents pro extermination, but a place like petco would have to shut down completely and remove all animals and most products to wipe out the problem.
Re: shouldnt this be contained?
yeah definetly. i was spending 5 minutes trying to calm down the terrified women and she even asked my to escort her to her car lol:)

the funniest part about this is the manager said they"accidentally" lost 3 corn snakes at the same time. lol
Re: shouldnt this be contained?
All pet stores will have rodent problems at one point or another. Especially a large chain like Petco. They have ALOT of dry food on hand and not all of it is neatly placed on the shelving in the aisles. At most stores, there is a lot of stock sitting on pallets in the back. Its a rodent bonanza!! :)
Re: shouldnt this be contained?
when i worked at the petstore we had mice problems as well. think about it... it's a smorg!!!
we also had some snakes and tarantulas loose... of course, we never told the customers about it LOL
Re: shouldnt this be contained?
When I worked at Petco, one day I walked in and there were about 20 iguanas loose in the store. They were on top of the shelves just hanging out. Hilarious!
Re: shouldnt this be contained?
Too bad they don't let a couple of mouse hunting kitties loose in there. Natural way to remove the mice. We've had homes in the country that had mouse problems until our old female cat sorted that out. Amazing how mice, once they know an experienced predator is around, choose to go live elsewhere LOL. We used to take Miss Puss up to my brother's cabin with us. He always had major mice problems and traps were everywhere. We'd spend 14 days up there, and never see a mouse and no traps were sprung. Kittie took care of the first few of them and the rest headed for the hills. We always knew when the mice left as she'd start meowing at the door to get out and see if she could chase a few outside now. :)
