    Nicky's 6 months old!!! (pics)
I think she is really turning out to be a looker! I love the salmon color on her sides and belly.

It must have taken me 15 minutes to get the pic with her tongue out.

Just for size reference, the squares on the rug are 12 inches.

I just got her switched over to rat pups too. She just looked at the first one for about 5 minutes, nose to nose, then decided it was o.k. and WHAM, one dead rat pup!

Off the subject, but, one of the local reptile/pet stores has some awsome Dumeril babies, but he doesn't know how old they are. They are about 18-20 inches long and appear to be healthy. I have handled all of them and they are all very calm. He is asking $100.00 for them. He has one that is the most awsome "sage" green that I want really bad, but I'm a little concerned since he doesn't know the age of a snake he's selling, making me wonder how much he really knows about them. What do you guys/gals think?

I think knowing the age is difficult sometimes when you don't hatch the babies yourself. He could've purchased them from a person who purchased them from a breeder. If there was a loss of communication down the line then I guess it really wouldn't be his fault. I'd say if you want to know if he knows the stuff, start pounding him with questions about husbandry, temps, adult lengths etc. Just make sure you know about it first ^_^ Also, I'd ask to see it eat too.

AND, you have a beautiful girl! I definitely know what you mean about the tongue thing. I sit in front of my snakes and click the multiple picture option to get it. Pain in the butt I tell you! Great pics though, congrats on her.

I guess what surprised me is that he breedes Rainbow's and Red Tail's, so I figured he'd ask about any babies he purchased.

His cages are well kept, and his breeder cages are clean and the temps and humidity are o.k. (already peeked:D ) but I was a lilltle concerned when he pulled a baby Red Tail out of the same cage as the Dum's, and the Red Tail was quite a bit larger. I thaught that was a serious "no-no"

The only pet store I've ever seen that keeps every snake in its own enclosure is the "mom and pop" one I buy nearly everything from. I'd say its a no-no, but you can never really expect breeder/home collector perfection when dealing with a pet store. If the temps and humidity are good and the animals look healthy, then its just up to you.

Very nice boa there. Love the clean yet busy pattern and the colors are great to boot! If you don't mind me asking, where did you pick that gem up from?

I baught Nicky from the "Tye Dyed Iguana", which is a really cool reptile store in Fairview heights Ill. Matt, the owner has a 7' rescue Red Tail that we all fell in love with and I asked him to get one for me if he could. I was lucky enough a breeder he knows just happened to have some that where old enough to sell so I got my pic from the 5 he had left. Nicky was only $90.00. I think that was a really great deal for such a beautiful girl, and she is an excellent eater, in fact she is just working on her second rat pup now. She eats two every week. Not much longer and she'll be on small rats at the rate she is growing!

Very nice. We all love boas and they are hard not to fall in love with. Congrats on the great find and keep us updated on her. I'm curious to see how she matures.
