    Anyone experience this?
    Does anyone else experience this?

I can pick up any of my ball pythons whenever I want without any problems. Never once had a hiss or bite from one of them. However let it be a feeding night and the snakes are just waiting for that lid to open. My big female has launched itself at me twice now as soon as I have opened the lid. They have got really aggressive lately when it comes to feeding.

    Is it:

    • The fact that I disturb them later than normal and switch the light on when it has been dark
    • Use the same tongs each time when feeding
    • They can smell the rats defrosting in the room
    • Its mid summer and they get like that

Ball Pythons are wonderful aren't they. I love an aggressive feeding response and we have a few adults in our collection that will "help" me feeding them if I'm not quick enough to produce the rat they are waiting on LOL. I think they quickly figure out the feeding routine and most of them will be keyed up and ready to eat when feeding night rolls around each week.

I'd say be glad that you are blessed with Ball Pythons that aren't finicky eaters! Believe me...I think I could write a pretty good book on BPs that don't eat. Kozma was that way when I fed him every week. He'd sit outside his box and wait.

Aggressive feeding is nothing to worry about :)

LOL......My coastal carpet pythons will take your arm off anytime you open their enclosures on feeding day.....all other times they are calm as can be. I guess that is just another form of proof that snakes can be conditioned to feed on the same day every week ;)
