Thermostat Issues

I just got my Herpstat ND set up last night and it doesn't seem to be heating anything at all. I set to 92 degrees when i got it set up, and an hour later when I came back and the tempeture wasn't increased, I turned the power output up to high. Then it still didn't seem to do anything when I went to bed, and when I woke up this morning I just set it on the highest setting. When I got home from school just an hour ago, it still hadn't increased the temperature except maybe by a couple degrees. Are there certain brands of heating pads that don't work with thermostats?

I'd get rid of that heating pad and get a piece of flexwatt.

Make sure your temperture units (F or C) are correct for you desired temperature, check to see if it is in 'heating mode' instead of 'cooling mode', and...how is your probe attached?

Also if you are using a human heating pad....most have an auto shutoff so they do not run for an extended amount of time, so if that is what your are using....then get some flexwatt or a heat pad made specifically for repties?

I have a heat pad made for reptiles only reason i ask is that it was attached to the bottom of the vivarium when I got it and I'm not sure if it is a good heating pad or not. The probe is in the enclosure, on the warm side behind one of the hides buried underneath the substrate. And I'm pretty sure it should default to heating mode by default but i will check that. i will also probably buy another heating pad or some flexwat tape anyway cause i will be getting a bigger tank soon.

Ok.....so how are you reading the temperature? Is the thermostat running, but the temp on the thermostat not changing? Do you have something besides the thermostat measuring the temperture?

I would definately check into your thermostats setting just to see if something is messed up.
