    say an average tank is set up 93 hott side 84 cool side

    Why is it that it cant be 83 on both sides?

    (not that i would keep a tank like that)

    but if he's fine on the cool side with that temp than why is their another temp?

    It's just wierd cause i dont understand fully :rockon:

    You give them a thermal gradient so they can thermoregulate, which is the ability to control their body temperature.

    For example, after they eat, they will probably elect to be on the warm side to have enough energy to digest. If they haven't eaten in a while, they might be on the cool side to slow their system down and conserve energy.

    That's it, in a nutshell.
