    Was that a hiss?
My darling kyna was coiled in a ball next to her hide box when i went to give her fresh water and I noticed that she started breathing really heavily... and when I picked up the water dish she let out all that air in one relitively louder exhale... Was that a hiss??? She is sheding and I know your supposed to leave them alone but her water is constantly getting her substrait in it since she gets in, then out, then back in bringing some aspen chips with her... It kind of startled me I admit... what are your thoughts?

Im very new so i might not be much help. :D :D

My regular has done that recently, also in shed. I think he was just a little stressed. Maybe startled. I dont think its anything serious.

It sounds to me like you just startled her. Maybe you can try a smaller water bowl to discourage her from crawling through it? It just needs to be big enough to drink out of.

yea it sounds like she hissed at you. Nothing to worry about I got 3 or four that'll do that, shes just reminding you that she has teeth. It doesn't mean she'll bite she is just saying "here I am get away or I might make you bleed" LOL.. just keep working with her some grow out of it some (God love 'em) don't.

One of our adult normal females (oddly enough also named Kyna) will do that loud, low exhale kind of hiss. It's like she really would like to do a big snake hiss but just can't be bothered LOL but she still wants to register her disapproval at being bothered.

I'd also agree though that you remove the larger water dish and just give her something she can get a drink out of but not laze about in. Soaking too much in their dish isn't good for them and tends to foul their drinking source and cause wet substrate which can lead to all sorts of problems.

AWWW well.. I thought it was adorable! I will get her a smaller water dish when I have the money I think she was spending lots of time in her dish cause she was constipated. (she pooped right before she shed only after soaking... or at least thats what the vet said it probably was) her hisses are soooooooo cute... so pathetic... :snake:

With very rare exception...the only time my snake poops is during or immediately after a shed. And she's not constipated. They can go a long time between poops and be perfectly fine. Just FYI. ;)
