    New "mock" setup with pics
I put this setup together today as a mock for a potential snake. Now dont take the pics to heart. bare in mind that the top will be complete plexi-glass with 30 1 inch holes drilled for circulation. the tank is 37" across 23" deep and is octogon. Each pane is 15" x 23". and here it is with pretend hide and all, UTH is on.

the temp guages were just put in at the time so they are not accurate in the pics. So what kinda snake do yall think i should put in here? a woma? ETB? im pretty open to any type of suggestions. experiance is somewhat of an issue though, as i only have a BP and two kings. But i have some good experiance in keeping taratula's i have 16 diffrent Sp. i have been keeping for 3 years now. i dont know if any of you have tried to catch an Pokie or a OBT. But great care is needed. so enough of me rambling on. and on to you :carrot:

    thanx for any comments

When selecting any herp, it is always good to pic the animal first, then decide how to 'mock' setup the enclosure to see if the specific requirements are being met. The snakes that you listed have completely different care/housing requirements.

Also, the added height of the tank will most likely cause heating issues, so make sure that your ambient air is ok.

Thats a sweet tank! How are you doing hot side cold side in it? I think anything would be neat in that setup as long as you can get it to stabilze where the herp needs it. A monitor would be sweet in there for a while. But I know next to nothing aobut lizards, or snakes for that matter. Heck the people on this site helped me with getting my tank jsut right, glass 20 gal. with a BP.

Awsome handy work! Post pics after it being lived in!!!!

funny you say monitor, otis my mangrove was just in there for about a year. till he was to big :( and my girlfriend made me get rid of him :( :(

hot side is @ 90, cool side @ 72. humidity 85% and holding since pics were taken. seems alright so far and yes i realize that the snakes i said require diffrent eviroments. wich is why i have two seperate humidity and heat controlled rooms. one for my inverts and one for the verts. but i was also thinking of saying screw the humidity and getting a desert dweller. or 20 scorpions. its really hard for me to decide. also considering i work in a glass shop
i could split the enclosure in two or four, and put some diffrent snakes or something in.

That stinks! I know my ex b/f of 3 1/2 years use to do that stuff to me and my animals. It was always "get rid of so and so because you dont need them" or it was always "the next animal you bring into this house, I'm leaving you...." or it was "it's me or your animals... you choose". LOL I always told him that my animals would be the ones to stay and I guess he didn't really think that because well I gave him the boot when I got really sick and tired of hearing about it. I would have given your girlfriend the boot too if she told me that I had to get rid of somone because "he was to big".
