Go do all the chores around the house without your Mom having to ask you....show her you're responsible...and see what happens.

    Hi Johnny-

I would say if she has any sort of phobia against snakes or rodents it would be pretty much pointless to try to convince her.

My daughter has wanted one for years. I like pretty much everything except roaches, so I'm okay with the idea, but I wanted her to show responsibility. She has been on the honor roll all through middle school- she is in 6th grade now and has achieved high honors (straight A's) so far this year- so we told her if she maintains high honors with her next report card, then she can get one (after she does her research, though). I've also been researching because ultimately the parent should always be responsible for their childrens' pets.

If your mom's not willing to be responsible for your pet then that's not too good either.

Short version? Show her how responsible you can be!

    Good luck!

Spend some time doing research, not just about the BP, but how to take care of it. Show her that you are really interested and committed to taking care of the snake. Plan out what you would want to do for a cage or tub, including heating, hides, a thermometer and humidity gauge, feeding, etc.... Give her a cost breakdown of everything it will take to get set up and care for your snake properly.
I know if one of my kids took that much time and effort, I would certainly consider and listen to what they had to say.

The other reason I say all this is for YOU to be sure you want to take on the responsibility of owning a BP.

    Good Luck :)
