    Hiding?
I dont know if this is serous or if my snakes just found a new place to hang out, but for the past week he's been hiding underneath of the water dish. He's there all the time and I have no idea why. Any insight would be great.

Snakes love to burrow...especially Balls...so i've heard anyways, I don't claim to be an expert. I've read alot of posts on here about other peoples snakes doing the exact same thing though.

Ball pythons like small, confined hiding spaces. He probably feels more secure under the water bowl than the hide you may have set up for him. You may want to provide a smaller hide or two if you don't want him under the water dish, but there shouldn't be a problem with him using it as a hide unless he is spilling the water.

A nice hide can be made inexpensively by cutting a hole in the side or on top of a plastic plant drip tray turned upside down.

Well it depends it could be a choice but it could be the sign that something is not right for him as far as husbandry.

So what you want to do is to rule that out first.

How are you hides? Hides should be identical, tight so your BP can squeeze in (All sides of the hide should touch your BP’s body)

How about your temp sometime BP hiding under or around their water dish do so to cool down because the enclosure temps are too hot.

So make sure those 2 don’t apply and if everything is ok then this just your BP’s preference.
