HELP<TEMPS
Hi everyone, well i live in San Jose CA, and it has been really cold, as for other cities. i have a glass tank setup and i am having trouble keeping the temp correct, need some ideas... oh the cool side is at 71, i feel like a bad herp owner!!

How are you currently heating the tank?? Nobody can really help without knowing the situation.

Give us a little more info on your set up and we'll be glad to help you out.
A bad herper would be someone who makes no attempt to correct what they know is wrong. You're here, you're asking questions in order to make corrections. I respect that and noone here is going to think you're a bad herper for asking questions.

In San Jose, California? So it "dropped" down to what, 68? Sorry you couldn't wear board shorts and sandals today...;)
Just kidding of course.
Living in Califorinia, you may or may not have heard of a space heater before. But either way, they are very effective for combating the occasional cold nights without doing a complete overhaul on the cage itself. Just put the space heater in the room with the cage to boost the room temp, and you should be fine.

50 in the day but it has been 20 at night buddy! And I have a ceramic heat emitter and a zoo med uth, in a 40gal tank

not usually this cold but my house has all wood flooring, but i know cali dosent get temps close as other states, space heater! nice, need one

what type of top is on the aquarium? The more you describe your setup the better ;)

i have the top covered with foil then duck tape over the foil, i use aspen bedding, and two hides. heating, i use a ceramic heat emitter, and a zoo med UTH, both are on a Alife 1000W Temperature Controller

what's reading your temps? one of those stick on gauges? or do you have a digital thermometer. those stick on gauges are terrible

two digital thermometers, one is a acurite and the other is a generic digital, the warm side is at 74 and the other says low!!, i use a ceramic heater in my room but i get to hot.
