    Thermostat Question
I have a question about these two thermostates

Now I have a 20 gallon and a 10 gallon and I'm going to get flexwatt for the warm sides. The cool sides will be controlled by a space heater for the winter. Now if I get just one of these thermostates would I be able to control both heat strips and the space heater, or just the two strips because they will be sit for the same degree but the space heater won't.

Also once spring comes around I'll get two more heat strips for the cool side will I need to get another thermostat as well. Thanks for all you help guys.

Also if I won't be able to use one thermostat to control two different temps with these do they make ones were you can, if they don't they should.

I don't think you could control both with the same thermostat since they are different sized enclosures. You may be able to since it is the same UTH but don't take my word. The herpstat 2 is a bit more expensive, but can control 2 zones at once, or just buy 2 ranco's or johnsons.

    Re: Thermostat Question
I was told by a few on here that I would just need one thermostat for both tanks for the warm sides, since they will be the same temp. If this won't work someone please let me know. I want to get this all finalized ASAP so I can get the stuff ordered. Thanks

Please someone else step in, I don't want to say yes and be wrong. I would think you could since you will be setting them to the same temp and I am assuming the glass on the bottom of both is the same thickness. Go for it and see, if not order one more thermostat like you would have needed to. Either way you can either lose $8 on having to get something else shipped out or save $75 for another thermostat.

you can control the flexwatt for both tanks with one of those thermostats but not the heater since it will be set at a different temperature. if you get flexwatt for the cool side then you will have to get a separate thermostat from the one you are controlling the hot side with.

tmlowe, are you saying that the herpstat pro can control both the hot side and the cool side flexwatt? i'm not familiar with them which is why i ask...

herpstat 2 is like 2 thermostats into one; 2 zones, 2 probes, 2 different settings. herpstat pro is like 4 thermostats into one; 4 zones, 4 probes, 4 different settings.
