Best way to tame a tokay?
I have a couple of 5 month old tokay geckos. I'm wondering what would be the best way to tame them. I've been doing some handling, but I don't want to freak the geckos out unnecessarily. I"m also wondering how long I should work with them in terms of handling time, I don't want to stress them too much.

    Here are the pictures.

Whoa those little dudes look awesome!

I don't know a whole lot about geckos, but I'd think handling them a little bit every day would work.

A little bit of interaction each day. Try not to restrain them, but gently cupping your hands around the gecko & making a spot for it to hide seems to work well. Keep handling time brief - just a few minutes of making friends on a consistent basis...daytime seems to work better than night for this.

Slow, steady, consistent interaction & "becoming part of the furniture" instead of a threat seems to be key to winning them over.

    Good luck!

Are they CB?, look like like CB babies. If so, you have a better chance of taming them down. WC ones can be calmed down but I really dont reccomend it, handling stresses them alot, not really worth it for WC ones IMO. Tokays are really more of a display gecko, if you want something to handle, get a leo or AFT.

Both are captive bred. The tamer one will *squak* at me if touched, at this point, but she doesn't move and is more tolerable of being touched. The skittish one is still very leary of my hand moving around in the enclosure.

I have leos and leo babies, if I just wanted to hold a gecko, I've got them. Or if I wanted a gecko to hold that has sticky feet, I could go back to keeping a crested.
